It's Been An Exciting Week

All of a sudden, the twins have started to do some new things this week.

Zoe has finally started rolling!! At 5-1/2 months, she's now rolled from her belly to her back...exactly one time. And she can now hold her head up really well when on her belly - almost as high up as Bailey can.

And as of today, Bailey has started to sit. Figures, he's started sitting at the same age that Hunter did. Hunter and Bailey must be twins I tell you!!

Needless to say, it's been an exciting week around here!

5 Months - Eating is a new adventure!

The twins had their 5 month appointment last week and they continue to grow well. Zoe is now 15-1/2 lbs. and 24 inches long. Where as Bailey (or Big B as I now call him) is 19 lbs. 1 oz. and 26 inches long. We figure that at this rate, he'll outgrow his infant car seat next month. They also got a shot, but took it like brave little ones and didn't cry. Of course the Emla patch mommy put on their legs helped numb the spot so the big bad shots weren't so bad.

Zoe and Bailey have also started veggies now - they've experienced wax beans (Zoe loved, Bailey hated) and carrots (Bailey loved and Zoe hated - figures!!). And we finally bought a new high chair so that feeding them is easier...and they love their fancy chair on wheels.

And they also had their developmental screening last week (whew, it was a busy week). They were checked to see how they are doing developmentally according to their adjusted age - or the age they would have been if they were born on their due date. So even though they were over 5 months old at the time, they are only expected to be developmentally at the 4 month level or better.

According to the screening, Bailey is doing well. He's right on track for 4 months. Zoe however is a bit behind in her physical strength, so we were given exercises for her to do. I guess poor Zoe has to bulk up a bit before her next screening in December. I'm sure she'll do fine...she's just taking her own pace for everything.

Ahhh, The Cottage Life!

We just got home from a week at the cottage and I have to say that all 4 kids loved our time away. The boys swam in the lake every day, and even learned how to do backflips off of a raft into the water. Yikes! The twins loved listening to the water lap against the shore and would smile and relax every time we went outside. All in all, it was a great week!

We started our week with the August long weekend - which is always celebrated by a huge party at the cottage with the whole family. This weekend's theme was Hawaiian Luau. The kids had a scavenger hunt all over the land and it ended with a pinata (which they all loved).

Here they are digging for a clue:

And finishing their hunt:

At the end of the day, the bigger kids got to have sparklers:

And later in the week, the boys had a blast swimming at Aunt Mary's cottage:

We can't wait until we head back to the cottage again! :o)
