The Countdown is On!

We're counting down a couple of important dates - right now, the most important one is how many days to go until we find out the genders of these two!!

Here's a list of our important upcoming dates:
Friday, November 3rd - our 3D u/s to see our little ones, get some great pictures and to find out their gender(s).
Tuesday, November 14th - my next OB appointment. If my blood pressure is still high, I may be required to start medication or bedrest.
Sometime between November 5-14 I need to have my next medical ultrasound. I still need to book it.
Friday, February 2, 2007 - officially the last day I'm allowed to work! (Ok, so it's far off, but important.)

I had my first OB appointment this week (finally!) and it was a very informative appointment. First off, I love my OB and I'm so glad I got to go back to him for my last pregnancy. I had him as my OB with both boys and he ended up delivering both of them too - so I'm hoping that the trend continues with the twins!

The info I learned:
* The twins had great heartbeats. He had no problem finding both of them.
* I'm measuring about 20 weeks. I was only 16 weeks at my appointment.
* I've still not gained ANY weight with this pregnancy. I'm actually down 3lbs according to the doctor's scale.
* My due date was changed again - it's now back to April 8, 2007. Easter Sunday.
* My OB will not let me work past 32 weeks. So we've picked the start of February as a good cut-off time (I'll be just over 31 weeks). My last official day of work will be Feb. 2.
* My blood pressure is high. They checked it 6 times to be sure. 3 times before I saw the doctor, and 3 times after (he came out to check it himself even). From what I remember, the last check was around 128/92. Doesn't sound good.
* Because of my high blood pressure, my OB now wants me to see him every 2-3 weeks to keep an eye on it (at this point, I would usually see him every 4-5 weeks).
* I now have to have regular ultrasounds to keep checking on the twins (normal with a twin pregnancy). I'm scheduled to have them every 3 weeks from now on. Woo hoo!

I also went in to do the last blood work for the IPS screening and I got my forms to do my hospital pre-registration.

So that's all the news! Oh, and I can now feel these two moving every day. Usually more than once a day - and usually right before bed. I hope that doesn't mean they'll be bad sleepers. :o)

12 week ultrasound pictures and updates

It's been a busy month! I can't believe I haven't had a chance to update my blog with my ultrasound pictures until now. As of today, I'm 14 weeks, 5 days and waiting until my first OB appointment on Oct. 24. I feel like I'm in the "boring stage" of my pregnancy - just waiting until everything starts happening. Soon enough I'll be swamped with doctors appointments and wishing I could get a break...but until then, it's a long wait.

I'm also counting down until my 3D ultrasound on Friday, November 3. We get to see the twins in 3D...and also find out their genders!!! I'm guessing that there is one boy and one girl in here - what does everyone else think?

Now for the updates:
1. I ended up getting my job back. Whew. I'm still teaching Grade 1, in the same school, in the same class. After all that stress, nothing changed.

2. I had my 12 week ultrasound on Sept. 22 and it's still twins! Both babies were moving around, one more than the other (my bet is that one's the boy! :o)

3. I have the measurements from the ultrasound - I'm not sure of the heartrates (the tech didn't tell me), but I did get to see their hearts beating.

The short forms are: CRL - crown to rump; NT - nuchal translucency; BPD - biparietal diameter
Baby A: measured 54.8 mm CRL, 0.8 mm NT, 16.6 mm BPD
Baby B: measured 64.8 mm CRL, 1.4 mm NT, 18.3 mm BPD

Basically, Baby B is the bigger of the two (by one cm). And both have good sizes for the NT measurement - anything lower than 3 mm has a lower chance for Down's.

And of course, they posed for pictures! I got two pictures of both babies on the screen:

The tech said that it was good she got pictures of both babies together - it would be the last time they would both fit on the screen at the same time, they are getting too big now.

I also have a picture of each baby. Baby A I'm having trouble loading the picture in...I'll have to post it later. And Baby B:

Aren't they cute already?! So now we're just playing the waiting game...until my OB appointment. It will be interesting to see how much weight I've gained then (down 1 lbs overall at my 12 week appt.).
